Casey Schmidt
Alto Sax/Tenor Sax
When
you’re in a band like Fat Brass Inc. you almost always
have one of
those “all-around” guys. Casey Schmidt fits that role for Fat Brass
because he is so good at setting up the band and is a natural when it
comes to the sax…watch him! He makes it look and sound so easy and the
playing is too good to be that easy of a night. He can solo, play
ensemble parts and it is a little known fact the Casey serves as the
“pitch police” for the horn section.
Casey
Schmidt,
Alto Sax/TenorSax, attended and graduated from Little
Falls Community
High School in Little Falls, Minnesota. After graduation
Casey began
his formal music study at Lawrence University in Appleton, WI and
graduated from Lawrence with degrees in Saxophone Performance and
Instrumental Music Education. While at Lawrence he performed with
numerous performance ensembles such as the Symphonic Band, Wind
Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, Jazz Band, Jazz Ensemble, Jazz Combo, and
the Lawrence University Saxophone Quartet. Casey has given performances
throughout the U.S., Italy, France, and China.
Casey continues to perform with the Lawrence Alumni Saxophone Quartet,
and Fat Brass Inc. In addition to his performance engagements, Casey
enjoys and dedicates the majority of his time to his teaching career.
Casey has teaching experience in Illinois and Wisconsin public schools.
He currently teaches band in De Pere Wisconsin at De Pere High School.
He is working on a graduate degree in Music Education from Northwestern
University. Casey looks forward to continued performance experience,
and a lifelong learning and teaching career in Music Education. When he
is not pursuing any of the above, Casey can be found on any lake deeper
than 2 feet drowning worms and killing time in search of fish.
